Graduate Assistant
Dan Schenkel is the social skills graduate assistant for Aggie ACHIEVE. He is currently a Ph.D. student in Educational Psychology with a specialization in School Psychology. He received his Master’s degree in mental health counseling at Westfield State University in Western Massachusetts. While completing his master’s degree, Dan was the director of a group home in Pittsfield, MA which served children and adolescents ages seven to eighteen. Dan worked to provide effective behavioral interventions to residents, implement structure and routine, and emphasized retention of staff through consistent training and supervision. After completing his Master’s degree in counseling Dan worked one on one with clients as a Clinical Care Manager to provide counseling services and case management. Dan emphasized a trauma informed model of intervention with the clients. During his time as a Clinician, Dan became an associate trainer for the trauma informed model which teaches a relational framework and skills for working with survivors of traumatic experiences with a focus on relationship as healing and on self-care for providers.
